Young Child Dead After Tragic Crash In Elizabeth

A tragic car crash in Elizabeth killed a young child and injured her mother and sister on Monday morning.

Authorities reported that the accident took place when a U.S. Post Office truck and a motorcycle crashed into each other at Rahway Avenue and Chilton Street around 10 a.m.

After colliding with the motorcycle, the truck caromed into the woman and her children, who were walking in the area.

The three-year-old was rushed to University Hospital in Newark and died a short while afterwards, ABC New York reported.

The mother and her other child are also hospitalized, but their condition is not known, CBS New York stated.

According to NJ.com:

“The woman was holding a young girl when she was struck, and the child flew out of her arms on impact, said Andres Figueroa, who saw the accident occur.”
