2 Dead In Fatal Fire In New Brunswick: Cops

Police are investigating a fatal fire in New Brunswick this weekend.

Police say they are investigating a fatal fire in New Brunswick this weekend that left two people dead.

The incident happened on Saturday at approximately 9:50 p.m., when the New Brunswick Fire Department and police responded to 289 Seaman St. to investigate reports of a structure fire, police said.

Upon their arrival, the house at the location was fully involved in fire, and fire department personnel were quickly able to bring the fire under control, police said. The house was supposed to be an unoccupied structure that was condemned and boarded up.

A search of the structure by firefighters located two unresponsive adult males on the second floor. The individuals were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where both were pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was accidental and not suspicious in nature. The deceased were believed to be squatters who had gained access to the boarded structure.
