2 Rutgers Dorm Rooms Broken Into Over Weekend
Both burglaries were at Clothier Hall. In one of them, a Rutgers student awoke to find a young man in her room, putting items into a bag:
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Someone broke into two different Rutgers dorm rooms the weekend, Rutgers Police reported on their Facebook page.
The burglaries were at Clothier Residence Hall, which is located at 590 George Street in New Brunswick on the College Avenue campus. Both burglaries were reported to have occurred between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 12.
In the first incident, a Rutgers student said they saw the suspect inside their dorm room while their roommate was sleeping, possibly via a camera. The suspect stole something of value belonging to the roommate and attempted to leave the room with it. The item was returned when the reporting party confronted the suspect. The perpetrator then left the area.

In the second incident, a different Rutgers student awoke to find the same suspect in their dorm room, placing items of value into a bag and attempting to leave with them. The perpetrator returned the items when the victim requested them back. The perpetrator then left the area.
In both instances, the suspect was described as an approximately 18-24 year-old Hispanic male, approximately 5'7" to 5'8", and was wearing grey jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black bandanna at the time of the incident.

It is unclear how he got into both dorm rooms; no signs of forced entry were observed, said police. Rutgers University Police asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the RUPD’s Detective Bureau at 848-932-4984.
