Thefts At Unlocked Offices At Rutgers Athletic Performance Center
There were two break-ins into unlocked offices last week, and a Rutgers employee's car was stolen:
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — There were two break-ins into unlocked offices at the Rutgers Athletic Performance Center over the Thanksgiving holiday week, when the campus was mostly closed, Rutgers Police reported on their Facebook page.
The break-ins occurred at two offices that had been left unlocked during the long holiday weekend. In one of the incidents, a female employee's car keys were stolen from her desk, and then used to steal her 2016 gray Jeep Cherokee from where she parked it at the Livingston parking deck.
The Rutgers Athletic Performance Center (APC) is located at 95 Rockafeller Road in Piscataway.

The first victim said someone stole items of value from their unsecured office sometime between Nov. 21 through Nov. 23.
In the second break-in, a woman who works for Rutgers University said she parked her Jeep in the Livingston campus parking deck over the Thanksgiving holiday week and left a spare key fob in her office, inside the athletic center. Her office was left unlocked.

She said she parked the Jeep in the Livingston parking deck at 8:15 a.m. Nov. 22 and when she returned to the parking deck Sunday morning she discovered the car was missing.
Rutgers Police remind students, employees and the public to lock cars, lock offices and dorm rooms, do not prop open doors and do not leave valuables in plain sight. Rutgers Police asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the RUPD’s Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
