33rd New Jersey Film Festival to Kick Off in September
The month-long film festival offers a unique selection of films from around the world.

The 2014 New Jersey Film Festival at Rutgers University will mark the 33rd anniversary of the annual celebration of film.
The festival, which will run from Sept. 11 through Oct. 16, is presented by the Rutgers Film Co-op, the New Jersey Media Arts Center and the Rutgers University Program in Cinema Studies. It will be held at Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
The festival will feature more than 25 film screenings including international films, American independent features, experimental films, classic revivals and cutting-edge documentaries.

A majority of the films being screened are part of the New Jersey Film Festival competition. A panel of judges selected the 23 finalists from over 277 works submitted by filmmakers from around the world.
The judges in conjunction with the festival directors will announce the prize winners after the screenings on Oct. 5.

Special highlights of the festival include more than 20 films that will have their New Jersey premiere, including films from Hong Kong, Kosovo and France.
More than 20 film directors, producers and actors will make special appearances during the event. Visiting directors will introduce their work and do a Q-and-A session after the screenings.
On select Thursday evenings, classic and rare experimental films will be screened such as works by the iconic George Melies.
