“This is a book that speaks to the range of
emotions we all experience when revealing our most cherished and treasured
feelings,” says author Terry Benczik. “Love can be funny, sad, touching and
tragic. It can also be joyful and ecstatic. But, it’s rarely something
ordinary, and even then, it’s a gift.”

“New Love Poems” explores a side of love that’s
rarely told through modern poetry. Chapters such as Attraction, Longing, Hope
and Higher Love connect readers to something very deep inside themselves. “Many
of us were brought up reading traditional poetry written for a different age
and time. I respect those books. Yet, I felt it was time that love poetry had a
modern take reflecting what we are all experiencing now.

Praise for Benczik’s poetry from Colin Dexter,
author of the Inspector Morse series, and inspiration for “Inspector Morse,”
“Inspector Lewis” and “Endeavour “on PBS:

“She somehow manages to
suffuse a tender charm over both these aspects of our mortal experiences, both
the weeping and the laughter. I’m sure it is her aesthetic sensitivity which I
find so appealing – that gentle power, that verbal elegance, that poignant
memorability, which characterizes her poetic achievement.”

“If you’re looking for
truth in life, it’s not in the experiences; it’s in the feelings,” Benczik
says. People who have shared my poetry with others, from counselors to clergy,
have told me that these poems provide a doorway to discussion, communication
and emotional intimacy.  I hope to
explore this subject my whole life.”
