North Brunswick warehouse plan seeks approval, nearby homes impacted (mycentraljersey.com) — A 44,000-square-foot warehouse is proposed for 1460 Livingston Avenue in North Brunswick, replacing an existing three-story office building and adding loading docks and new parking. The developer is seeking a variance to place parking much closer to neighboring homes than current rules allow, with the planning board set to review the plan on June 9.
2. Innovate100 Event Brings New Jersey Leaders Together in New Brunswick (tapinto.net) — Hundreds of innovators from across New Jersey just packed State Theatre New Jersey in downtown New Brunswick for the 2026 Innovate100 event, turning the venue into a statewide networking hub. Attendees traded ideas on technology, healthcare, education, and business, while speakers and videos highlighted AI projects, student hackathons, and cross-industry collaborations meant to fuel the state’s innovation economy.
3. Ultrafine Wildfire Smoke Particles May Pose Serious Health Risks (usnews.com) — A Rutgers School of Public Health researcher based in New Brunswick helped show that wildfire smoke can carry ultrafine particles loaded with toxic metals, PFAS, and cancer-linked chemicals. Their Los Angeles study warns that these particles threaten health both during fires and later, when ash and debris are disturbed during cleanup.
4. Middlesex County Launches Ten-Town Flood Study; Wants to Hear from Residents (tapinto.net) — Middlesex County, in a study announced from New Brunswick, is asking residents of ten nearby towns to share their experiences with flooding to shape a long-term resilience plan. Cranbury, East Brunswick, Helmetta, Jamesburg, Milltown, Monroe, North Brunswick, Plainsboro, South Brunswick, and Spotswood are all included in this FEMA-funded effort, which will guide regional flood mitigation strategies through 2027.
5. Woodbridge's Riley Vazquez is Marisa Tufaro Memorial Community Service Scholarship recipient (mycentraljersey.com) — A Woodbridge High School senior who led book and toy drives supporting pediatric patients at Robert Wood Johnson Children’s Specialized Hospital and other Middlesex County causes has earned the 2026 Marisa Tufaro Memorial Community Service Scholarship. Her volunteer work, including efforts tied to Rutgers’ Zimmerli Art Museum in New Brunswick, reflects her goal of becoming a pediatric oncology nurse focused on comforting vulnerable children.
