📰 News we're reading

• Did New Brunswick Field the First High School Football Team in State History? (tapinto.net) — New Brunswick High School's football program may be the first in New Jersey history, according to painstaking research by history teacher and coach Geoff Chrisman. He's rebuilding the Zebras' record book from 1880s clippings, unearthed memorabilia, and alumni stories, while using that rich legacy to inspire today's players as they try to turn the program around.

• Fourth Grader Inspired by Statue of Liberty Wins Art Contest (tapinto.net) — In downtown New Brunswick, county commissioners honored 10‑year‑old North Brunswick student Ashe Barlinski, whose Statue of Liberty‑inspired design will appear on Middlesex County's official "I Voted" stickers this fall. More than 200 fourth graders competed in the contest, part of the county's 250th‑anniversary celebration of American independence, and Barlinski's artwork will be handed out at polling places across the county.

• Remote cardiac monitoring transforms heart care (njbiz.com) — New Brunswick's emerging Helix NJ innovation hub is highlighted as a key site in New Jersey's push to transform heart care through remote monitoring and AI‑enhanced analysis. Health systems and med‑tech firms across the state are rolling out wearables, implantable devices, and disposable blood‑pressure patches that continuously track heart rhythms and pressures. These tools aim to catch silent conditions like AFib earlier, reduce hospital visits, and refine treatment decisions.
