NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Three firefighters were injured battling a large fire Tuesday afternoon in New Brunswick.
The fire broke out at 1:24 p.m. in a three-story, eight-unit apartment building on Louis Street, according to the New Brunswick Fire Department.
The blaze rose to three-alarm status and was not brought under control until 5:13 p.m. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries fighting the fire.
A total of 22 people were displaced, including several Rutgers students. Several Rutgers students lived in the apartment building.
What caused the fire was not immediately released.
