Woman Rescued After Tesla Goes Into Piscataway Pond

PISCATAWAY, NJ — A woman driving a Tesla drove the car into New Market Pond Tuesday evening in Piscataway, according to Township officials.

The woman drove the car into the pond sometime after 8 p.m., in what appears to be an accident.

When Piscataway Police officers, firefighters and other first responders first got there, the car was in the middle of the lake and the woman was trapped inside it.

First responders rescued the woman, who was pulled out of the car uninjured.

Piscataway Public Safety Director Keith Stith said the woman just lost control of the vehicle. He said the cause of the crash was driver's error.

News 12 has photos and video of the car in the pond, and the rescue. It took several hours Tuesday night for men to pull the Tesla from the pond.

New Market Pond is located on Lakeview Avenue in Piscataway, at the end of Columbus Park Lake.
