NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The city of New Brunswick is offering old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage rides this weekend to celebrate the holiday season and encourage shoppers to their downtown shopping area. The horse-drawn carriage rides begin this Friday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. and will continue Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17 and 18, also at 4 p.m. The carriages depart in 15 minute intervals from the Hyatt Regency, on Neilson Street.

As you travel through downtown New Brunswick on an open carriage, check out the holiday décor, twinkling lights and holiday tree. Riders are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or winter accessory to donate to those less fortunate this giving season. While you're there, check out one of New Brunswick's 45 restaurants, or stores. Downtown New Brunswick is an Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ), offering only 3.5% sales tax on all applicable goods. Carriage rides may be postponed in inclement weather.
