CASA of Middlesex County Awarded Appeal Match from Amazon

CASA of Middlesex County has received a special gift from Amazon which will help children find loving, permanent homes.

CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, of Middlesex County, has received a special gift from Amazon which will help children from Middlesex County now living in foster care after experiencing abuse or neglect, find loving, permanent homes. This year, Amazon is matching all contributions made to CASA during their annual Holiday Appeal, now taking place. Last year’s appeal raised almost $20,000. With Amazon as a partner, this year’s appeal will be even more successful.

Amazon’s match means contributions will automatically be doubled and all will go to CASA’s mission of advocating for children.

According to CASA Executive Director Stephanie Brown, CASA recruits, trains, and supports volunteer advocates. While other professionals working with the child may not always remain on the case, the CASA advocate becomes the one caring adult in the child’s life who will always be available to the child, remaining with the child until they find a permanent home and the case can be closed. “While foster parents sincerely open their hearts and homes to children who have been abused or neglected,” said Ms. Brown, “being placed in a new home with people they do not know, can be very difficult for a child. They may have to change schools, be separated from siblings and friends, and get used to new routines. The holiday season can be especially difficult. This is why the CASA volunteer contributes so much of their time and energy working to help the child find a permanent home.”

“The Amazon matching donation is an extra special gift for foster children this holiday season.” said Ms. Brown. “It will ensure we have the funds to support the advocacy for more children than ever before. Every month there are more children facing abuse and neglect, who need an advocate. Our goal is that every child who needs an advocate will have one. Our partnership with Amazon will bring us closer to that goal.”
