Cedar Hill Prep Honors Black History Month

The event served as a beacon, illuminating the indispensable roles these organizations play in advancing social justice and civil rights

On February 23, 2024, the Cedar Hill Prep middle-school Social Studies Department proudly celebrated Black History Month by paying tribute to The Divine Nine, nine historic Black Greek-letter organizations renowned for their significant contributions to civil rights and education. The event served as a beacon, illuminating the indispensable roles these organizations play in advancing social justice and advocating for the recognition of Black history year-round.
Led by the exceptional planning and leadership of Ms. Demuccio and Ms. Kennedy, the Black History Month celebration at CHP was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on families and children alike. Attendees were treated to a diverse array of activities and performances that encapsulated the spirit of The Divine Nine and their enduring legacy.
Highlights of the event included mesmerizing Drill Dances that showcased the rich cultural heritage of these organizations, as well as enlightening speeches from esteemed guests who shared insights into the profound impact of The Divine Nine on American society. The centerpiece of the celebration was the much-talked-about Divine Nine-themed cake. This delectable masterpiece served as both a culinary delight and a symbol of unity and solidarity.
Looking ahead, Cedar Hill Prep is filled with anticipation for the opportunities and experiences the coming year will bring students and families. With a renewed sense of purpose and dedication, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and equity within our community.
