Cedar Hill Prep Student Shines at International Geography Championship

Vallabh V. Shines at 3rd International Geography Championships

Somerset, New Jersey – September 9, 2024 – Vallabh V., a 9-year-old and current 5th grader at Cedar Hill Prep School, has achieved remarkable success at the 3rd International Geography Championships held in Vienna, Austria, from July 13-20, 2024. Representing both himself and his team, Vallabh demonstrated exceptional geographic knowledge and skill, competing against some of the world’s top young geography enthusiasts.
Among the 310 students from 19 countries, 31 U.S. states, Hong Kong, and the District of Columbia, Vallabh secured a prestigious Third Place (Bronze) in the Overall Individual IGC Championship in the Elementary Division. His performance was highlighted by the following accolades:

• Gold Medal in the Written Exam
• Silver Medals in the Geopardy Competition and Travel & Tourism Exam
• Bronze Medals in the Hungary Exam and South Asian Geography Bee
• Sixth Place in the International Geography Bee World Championships Trophy

In addition to his individual accomplishments, Vallabh contributed significantly to his team’s success. The NJ-Team A, comprised of Vallabh, Trishob, and Noah, achieved:

• Gold Medal in the Hexathlon Event
• Silver Medals in the Geographeud Event and International Geography Bowl World Championships Trophy

This prestigious event featured a series of competitions, field trips, and social events, offering Vallabh a valuable opportunity to connect with peers who share his passion for geography. His performance reflects his dedication and the strong educational foundation provided by his school.
