Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver From Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Middlesex County

The pedestrian, Daniel T. Catalfamo, 29, of Edison entered Route 18 and was struck by the vehicle, police said. The vehicle fled the scene.

East Brunswick police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian on Route 18 on Wednesday.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., the pedestrian, Daniel T. Catalfamo, 29, of Edison entered Route 18 and was struck by the vehicle, police said. The vehicle fled the scene south on Route 18.

East Brunswick police responded to the accident call at Route 18 south and the Highland Street extension. The initial investigation indicates that a light colored sedan - believed to be a 1992-95 Honda Civic, possibly four door -was traveling south on Route 18 near the Highland Street Extension.

The East Brunswick Rescue Squad and Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital arrived on scene to begin treating Catalfamo. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are currently being investigated.
