Enter Highland Park's Gingerbread House Competition

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ — Highland Park's downtown tree lighting will be Nov. 27, with a visit from Santa on a fire truck!, and Highland Park's gingerbread house competition returns this year.

From 7-8 p.m. all are welcome at the Welkovitz Pavilion next to 212 Raritan Avenue for the annual tree lighting, complete with music, caroling, hot chocolate, candy canes, and Santa on a fire truck.

The Gingerbread Houses will be on display at the Saturday Nov. 27 Night Owl Market.

Houses will be accepted on Saturday from 1 - 5:45 p.m. Sign up to register your house here: https://www.mainstreethp.org/g... and drop the house off Saturday, Nov. 27 between 1-5:45 p.m. at the Welkovitz Pavilion next to 212 Raritan Avenue, Highland Park.

Entries are not limited to the structure of a house. Competitors are welcome and encouraged to uniquely design their entry for the 2021 competition.

Voting will be done by the general public on-site. Voting starts at 6 PM and ends at 7:30 PM.

Size is up to you. Go with what you think will win.

Everything but the board/pan must be 100 percent edible. Edible materials are not limited to candies and icings. Use of gum paste, fondant, pastillage, chocolate, modeling chocolate, royal icing, isomalt, cast sugar, gelatin, and pressed sugar is encouraged. Use of "Disco Dust," "Rainbow Dust" or “Hologram Powder” is permitted.

Materials do not have to be exclusively homemade and may be store-bought (as long as they are edible).

1st place will win a tote filled with items from the Night Owl Market vendors. Placers will receive ribbons. Depending on registration counts we may expand the rewards.
