December 8 at 4:30 p.m. – Join the Civic League of Greater New Brunswick for a reading of "Bear and Wolf" by Daniel Salmieri. December 9 at 4 p.m.: Woodbridge Radio City Spectacular Trip
December 10 at 6 p.m.: Holiday Cookies & Cans: Bring four dozen cookies or four dozen cans for admission to a night of fun at the Woodbridge VFW Post, 6061 Inman Avenue, Colonia. Half of what you bring will be given to families in need right here in Woodbridge and half will be shipped out to troops overseas.

December 10 at 8 p.m. – See "A Christmas Carol" at Playhouse 22 at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center. The classic Christmas tale of a miserable miser who learns to keep Christmas in his heart with the help of several ghostly visitations. All tickets are $15. December 12 at 11 a.m.: Paint with Santa: Painting with Santa at the Woodbridge High School cafe 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. $25 per child. Presented by Woodbridge High School cheerleading team and the high school art department

Dec. 17, 18 and 19: See "The Nutcracker" at State Theatre in New Brunswick. American Repertory Ballet. In this classic holiday ballet, the gift of a beautiful nutcracker brings young Marie astonishing dreams of battling mice, enchanted forests, and the exotic Land of Sweets. Set to Tchaikovsky’s glittering score, Nutcracker boasts spectacular costumes and scenic effects, and inventive choreography. Dec. 17, 18 and 19: Horse-drawn carriage rides through New Brunswick City Center – Continuing with a New Brunswick holiday classic, City Center will host family carriage rides in the winter evenings. $20 per carriage family.

Jan. 2: 4 p.m. The Hip Hop Nutcracker at State Theatre. The Hip Hop Nutcracker is coming to the State Theatre with a holiday mash-up for the whole family! Directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, The Hip Hop Nutcracker is a contemporary dance spectacle set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music. A unique and joyful event, this production features a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop’s founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set. With new-age visuals and digital graffiti, the classic ballet is reset in contemporary New York City.
