GSP's 'Venus in Fur' Announces Cast

The George Street Playhouse's last production for the season, 'Venus in Fur', is open for ticket sales.

The George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced casting for the final production of their 2012-13 season, David Ives’ provocative comedy Venus in Fur.  Mark Alhadeff who was the understudy for the original Broadway production, will portray Thomas, the playwright and director, and Jenni Putney, most recently seen in A Dram of Drummhicit at La Jolla Playhouse, will portray Vanda.  Kip Fagan who recently directed Jesse Eisenberg’s The Revisionists Off-Broadway, will helm.

The play focuses on Thomas, a playwright who is making his directorial debut with his newest play,Venus in Fur, an adaptation of a scandalous Victorian novella, Venus in Furs.  He is at the end of a long day of fruitless auditions for the lead female role.  With a crash of thunder, Vanda enters, and soon the lines blur between fantasy and reality as she auditions for the role.

Due to adult themes, this sexy and electrifying comedy hit is suitable for audiences age 17 and over.
