Highland Park's Annual 5K Is May 5 This Year

The race includes a great course around town and a post-race street fair so you can spend the entire day in downtown Highland Park!

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ — Run around Highland Park and participate in this wonderful community tradition, now in its 11th year.

The race includes a great course around town, shirts, backpacks, and other giveaways, delicious post-race snacks, and even a post-race street fair so you can spend the entire day in downtown Highland Park!

The course, closed to traffic during the race, starts by Highland Park High School on North 5th Ave and then heads downhill along Rt. 27 towards New Brunswick for a fast first mile. The race then winds it’s way through the historic streets of Highland Park before finishing on the high school track.

The event welcomes all participants including strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers.

It's $28 if you register before 4/22, then $30 from 4/22. $35 on race day. $3 off for USATF members except race day registration.

Kids Races
$10 before 4/22, then $11 from 4/22. $12 on race day

Race day start times:

7:30 am – 8:45 am: Bib pickup / Race day registration for the 5k (kids race registration will be available by the track prior to 10am). LOCATION: Behind the Highland Park High School/Middle School – use entrance by N 5th Ave and Abbott St, or North 4th Ave and Wayne St.

If you are registering on the day, please make sure you leave plenty of time as you will need to fill out a registration form for every person you enter.

Pre-race: Join Kinetics for a warm up before heading to the start line
8:55 am: National Anthem
9:00 am: 5K start (the start line this year is on North 5th Ave)
10:00 am: Awards ceremony
10:00 am: Kids races on the track
11:00 am – 4:30 pm: Stick around for the Highland Park STREET FAIR!
Prices increase on April 22 so register early. T-shirts can only be guaranteed for participants registered by 4/15.

    • Highland Park fire department
    • Highland Park first aid squad
    • Highland Park recreation department
    • Highland Park Public Library
    • Main Street Highland Park

The HP 5K Committee is raising money to fight pancreatic cancer, in memory of Franco Juricic, a beloved member of the Highland Park community and a long-time devoted runner of the Highland Park 5K race. Funds donated via this link go entirely to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN), a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.
