WHAT: Rally to support the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump
WHERE: Congressman Frank Pallone's Office (67 Church Street, New Brunswick, NJ)
WHEN: Wednesday, September 6, 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
NOTE: This event will take place rain or shine.
"Under the U.S. Constitution, the House of Representatives has the sole power and responsibility to impeach federal officials who have committed treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Once impeached, the U.S. Senate would evaluate the charges against the official(s), who can be convicted by a two thirds vote and removed from office. We believe President Donald Trump is a prime candidate for immediate impeachment, and for swift removal from office. He would be the third President in United States history to be impeached, and the first to be removed.
While there a number of very legitimate causes for President Trump's impeachment, so far there has been one article of impeachment to be drafted and formally introduced by members of the House. We are encouraging Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ 6), who represents New Brunswick, to join his colleagues Brad Sherman and Al Green in co-sponsoring the article of impeachment concerning Mr. Trump's obstruction of justice. (H.R. 438 - https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-resolution/438)
Thus far, Congressman Pallone has kept an open mind to the possibility of impeaching the President, but he has not made doing so a priority or a focus of his work.
Congressman Pallone said in that video above: "I don't really want to focus on impeachment. I am concerned that President Trump keeps doing things that come very close to impeachment offense. He's gotta stop all this divisiveness. [Trump] doesn't seem to pay too much attention to the law or the limits of his own authority, but, you know, we'll see. I think that it's not an issue that I want to focus on right now because I'm busy dealing with all these other issues that are important in terms of the economy and healthcare ..."
We are hopeful that the Congressman will hear our voices loud and clear tomorrow, and that he will make impeaching the President of the United States a priority. Change has to start somewhere. Why not here in New Brunswick, New Jersey?"
When asked by Patch, Pallone said Wednesday in a statement:
“I have great concerns about the Trump administration’s interactions with Russia and its disregard for the law. I support the Mueller investigation and the continued work of Congressional committees that are investigating the many inappropriate and potentially unlawful actions of President Trump. We need to gain all available information on the President’s misconduct, which I believe could very well lead to impeachment.”
