Joyce Kilmer Avenue to Undergo 'Substantial' Roadwork

New Brunswick was given a $343,987 grant by the state DOT this month, which will go to the project.

New Brunswick, NJ - The city of New Brunswick was given a $343,987 grant by the New Jersey Department of Transportation this month, which city officials say will go towards a "substantial" roadway improvement project for Joyce Kilmer Avenue.

Joyce Kilmer is one of the major roadways in New Brunswick, and work on it will include improvements to the storm water system, inlets and ramps, and replacement of manhole covers, among other things. New curbs and sidewalks will also be put in, the city told Patch.

"It's a substantial project and will most likely not start this year, as it requires a great deal of work on behalf of the engineering department," said city spokeswoman Jennifer Bradshaw.
