'Massive, Devastating' Fire At Piscataway Food Bank

PISCATAWAY, NJ — A building used as a food bank was badly damaged in a fire that broke out there early Wednesday morning.

This is the building where the Fish Organization is located, on New Market Road in Piscataway, said Piscataway Township. The fire broke out there sometime before 8 a.m.

The Fish Organization is a regional food bank for people in need in Piscataway, Plainfield and Dunellen.

Piscataway Twp. called the fire "devastating" and that "all food and clothing supplies for needy families have been lost."

The building is 100 years old and was empty when the fire started. The cause was not released.

“To lose this facility, it’s going to hurt,” Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler told News 12 New Jersey.
