New Brunswick Boys' Soccer Downs Sayreville; Football Team Falls to Colonia

The football team seeks its first win this week, against Carteret.

The New Brunswick High School football team fell in an early hole it was never able to climb out of in a  48-14 loss to Colonia this week, according to nj.com.

Maurice Ffrench accounted for both of New Brunswick's touchdowns. He scored on a 4-yard run in the second quarter. In the fourth, he caught a 26-yard pass from Kristian Tejada for a score.

Colonia scored the first three touchdowns, and finished with seven total, including an interception return to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter.

Tennis Adewusi threw three touchdown passes, including a 12-yard pass to Elijah Williams; a 70-yard pass to Sam Pero; and a 70-yard pass to Raul Cardona. He rushed for another, a 34-yard dash to the end zone to open the scoring in the first quarter. Pero also scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter. Soloman Manning added a 25-yard run for a touchdown.

New Brunswick fell to 0-3 and hosts Carteret on Friday night, 7 p.m.

Boys' soccer

New Brunswick 2, Sayreville 0: Both of New Brunswick's goals came in the second half, from Jose Torres and Carlos Lopez. New Brunswick was 3-3-1 heading into Saturday's game at Edison.

Girls' soccer

New Brunswick dropped to 0-7 with a 3-0 loss to Metuchen and a 7-2 loss to Plainfield. Yaqueline Juare scored both goals for New Brunswick. Ashley Palma had eight saves against Plainfield.
