New Brunswick Caribbean Festival, Indian Festival Dates And More

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — This summer and fall, New Brunswick will welcome back its 12th annual Hub City Sounds series, taking place July 23-October 30.

Hub City Sounds is a free, family-friendly performing, visual and culinary arts festival with events for all ages and tastes.

All of the below events will take place in the city of New Brunswick this summer to fall from July 23 through October 30. There will be music and cultural dance performances, cooking demonstrations, spoken word performances, craft making and more!

“We are so excited to present the 12th annual Hub City Sounds, featuring both in-person and virtual arts and entertainment for the residents of New Brunswick, Middlesex County and beyond,” said Tracey O’Reggio Clark, interim executive director of the New Brunswick Cultural Center. “From July to October, we welcome everyone to enjoy these events featuring live music and dance performances, delicious food from local vendors, and so much more.”

Saturday, July 23 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – at East Jersey Old Town Village, in partnership with the Arts Institute Art in the Park 1050 River Road, Piscataway

Kick-off to Hub City Sounds! Pay homage to music from the 1920s, celebrating great musicians like James P. Johnson and dancers like Josephine Baker at the East Jersey Old Town Village, home to historic buildings. Featuring historic demonstrators; interactive paper-making workshops courtesy of Frontline Arts and culinary specialties from food trucks from across Middlesex County.

Saturday, August 6, 2 – 6 p.m. at Boyd Park, Rt. 18 North, New Brunswick Indo-American Festival

Offering mouthwatering treats, music and dance performances inspired by the culture and traditions from Northern and Southern India, complemented by educational yoga demonstrations, Zumba Bollywood and a visual arts workshop and competition.

Friday, August 12 - third annual HEART Festival Art Battle – 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. – In-person and live stream Art Battle at Above Art Studio, 55B Morris St., New Brunswick

The Art Battle is where the Food Network “Chopped” meets Visual Arts. This competition features 7 artists, 3 rounds, and 1 Cash Prize winner!

3rd Annual New Brunswick HEART Festival Saturday, August 13, 3pm-6pm – Monument Square, 2 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick

This year’s festival will take place in downtown New Brunswick in-person at Monument Square at 2 Livingston Ave and will be live streamed on Instagram, Facebook and Zoom. The festival which celebrates all the vibrant arts and history that New Brunswick and the County of Middlesex has to offer, will feature live music and dance, craftmaking activities, an Arts Market for visual arts, craft vendors, food vendors and more!

7th annual Caribbean Festival Saturday, August 27, 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Recreation Park, 7 Pine Street, New Brunswick

Revel in the island vibes with Caribbean cuisine, music, and dance performances (reggae, soca, and calypso); learn about the English, Spanish, French and Dutch speaking Caribbean.

11th Annual Central Jersey Jazz Festival Saturday, September 10, 1 – 6pm – In front of New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) at 11 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick

This unique, live Jazz festival is hosted in partnership with Flemington, New Brunswick, Somerville and Metuchen.

Celebrate Latin Heritage Month Saturday, September 17, 2 – 5 p.m. – In front of New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) at 11 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick

Celebrating Latin Heritage Month, Hub City Music Festival and Hunger Action Month. Corazon Latino Festival/ Día de Muertos/ Trick or Treat Around Town

Live street performances Sunday, October 30 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Downtown New Brunswick

Featuring live performances in front of New Brunswick Performing Arts Center on Livingston Avenue, and trick or treating on George Street and French Street.

Everything is entirely free.
