New Brunswick Man Killed In Rt. 1 Crash

He drove under a tractor trailer Friday night on Rt. 1 and his car became lodged underneath the trailer, said police.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A New Brunswick man was killed over the weekend after his car slammed into a tractor trailer in South Brunswick, police said.

At 12:42 a.m. on Saturday a 40-year-old New Brunswick man was driving a 2011 Cheverolet Malibu northbound on Rt. 1, when it struck the rear of a tractor trailer driven by a 56-year-old Somerset man.

The impact of the crash resulted in the car being lodged underneath the trailer, requiring the driver to be extricated by the Monmouth Junction Fire Department, said South Brunswick Deputy Chief of police James Ryan.

The New Brunswick man was not identified by name.

The New Brunswick man was taken by EMS to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he was pronounced dead, Ryan said.
