New Korean Restaurant Opens This Weekend

Bonchon Chicken offers free wings to first customers at grand opening

Fans of chicken wings will have a new option in New Brunswick starting this weekend when Bonchon Chicken opens its doors with a special grand opening celebration this weekend.

The Korean-style restaurant will give the first 50 customers 10 free wings and the first 100 customers will get five free wings. The shop is located at 1 Penn Plaza and the doors will open on Saturday at 11 a.m. 

Bonchon offers dine-in, take-out and delivery and is located at the intersection of Route 27 and Easton Avenue near the train station. Customers can also call ahead for their take-out orders to speed up the process.

The company said their speciality is their non-greasy, cage-free chicken that has been double-fried and smothered in Soy Garlic or Hot Flavor savory sauces.

  • Signature Wings, Drumsticks and Chicken strips available in small, medium, large or X-large portions. Choose between Soy Garlic, Hot Sauce or half & half. Choose one side – rice or radish
  • Bulgogi Rib Eye – thinly sliced tender rib eye beef marinated and aged with a soy-based homemade sauce
  • Bull Dak – stir fried spicy chicken with rice cake topped with thinly sliced scallions and cheese
  • Bibimbob – steamed rice served with assorted vegetables and red pepper paste in a sizzling hot pot. Choose between Bulgogi, chicken or tofu.
  • Chicken Katsu – breaded chicken cutlet over a bed of rice with Katsu sauce and spicy mayo
  • Tteokbokki – stir fried rice cakes with Korean spicy sauce

 Korean-influenced side dishes and appetizers and include:

  • Sesame Ginger Salad and House Salad with beef, chicken or tofu
  • Edamame, dumplings (vegetable or beef), shrimp shumai and potstickers (pork)
  • Kimchi, steamed rice, coleslaw, Kimchi coleslaw, pickled radish and seasoned french fries.

The Bonchon Chicken franchise started in South Korea in 2002 and came to this country in 2006. The first store in this area was in Leonia and there are now more than 50 locations throughout the world. There are also Bonchon Chickens in Fort Lee and Jersey City. 

The newest location is owned by Mayur Suchdev and Ankit Patel who are both graduates of nearby Rutgers University. 

Bonchon Chicken is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
