PISCATAWAY, NJ — A 28-year-old Piscataway single mother was killed when she was ejected from the back of her boyfriend's motorcycle on July 4. It has now been revealed her boyfriend was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the crash.

The devastating crash happened early in the morning on Wednesday, July 4 in South Plainfield: At 5 a.m. that day, Custodio was driving his 2016 BMW motorcycle on New Brunswick Avenue near Carlton Avenue when he lost control and hit a curb. His passenger, Jessica Montes, was ejected and suffered what the county prosecutor described as "catastrophic" injuries. She was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, but pronounced dead.

"Jessica was full of life and always smiling. She loved adventure, nature, animals and her vibrant personality was contagious. In life, she loved her son, Ruben, most and will be remembered as a loving mother and daughter," her obituary read.
When he was arrested at the scene of the crash, Custodio summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to maintain lanes, driving without a license, driving while suspended, operating a vehicle without consent, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to possess a driver’s license, failure to possess an insurance card, and no insurance.
