UPDATE: Suspicious Package At Rutgers Deemed Safe, Police Say
UPDATE: The package is safe, and the area has been reopened.

UPDATE (10 a.m.): The package found at the Douglass Parking Deck has been deemed safe, according to an "RU Alert" sent to students at 9:58 a.m. The area has been reopened, and no classes were cancelled.
ORIGINAL STORY: Police are responding to reports of a suspicious package at a Rutgers New Brunswick parking deck, according to an "RU Alert" sent out this morning.
A suspicious package was spotted at the Douglass Parking Deck. There are no reports on what kind of package or device it might be, and there have been no injuries reported. Police are telling students to stay away from the area.

It is unclear if this package is related to the bombs in Elizabeth, Seaside Park or the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

This development comes as investigators in Union County are investigating reports of pipe bombs at the Elizabeth train station.

UPDATE: New Brunswick Police issued an advisory telling New Jersey Transit commuters to expect delays this morning due to increased police activity at the New Brunswick train station. The increased presence is precautionary only due to related events. Police remind all to report any suspicious packages immediately.

Classes have not been cancelled, including those on the Cook Douglass Campus, according to student tweets.

UPDATE: Campus buses are bypassing the Patterson Street stop this morning, according to the Rutgers Department of Transportation. Bus lines on the Cook Douglass Campus are running with delays; students should leave extra time to get to class.
Due to police activity the campus buses are not servicing the Patterson street bus stops at this time.
