Police Warn About Non-Harmful Odor In New Brunswick

Breaking: An odor similar to natural gas is currently present in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and Jersey Avenue Wednesday at 11 a.m.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — An odor similar to natural gas is currently present in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and Jersey Avenue, New Brunswick police said in an alert they sent out Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Please note that this odor is NOT natural gas, but rather an additive that is used to give natural gas a detectable smell. The odor is coming from a nearby manufacturing facility in the area. The odor is not harmful and no emergency is present.

First responders and representatives from PSE&G have checked the scene and are working with the facility to rectify the odor, police said.
