Rutgers Cancer Institute & ScreenNJ Hold Community Celebration

Celebration recognized the services of recently established mobile health unit to serve the community

New Brunswick, N.J., September 26, 2023 –ScreenNJ,

a statewide collaborative committed to reducing cancer incidence and mortality, held a special celebration in collaboration with the Henry J. Austin Federally Qualified Health Center, the Trenton Health Team, Arm in Arm and Union Baptist Church of Trenton, New Jersey, to mark community contributions of the lifesaver, a 12-foot high, 38-foot long mobile health unit that provides cancer screenings, follow up care and health education to underserved and hard-to-reach residents across the state. The event featured on-site screening services, a community tile mural arts project facilitated by coLAB Arts of New Brunswick and music from Jazz4Prostate Cancer Awareness.

Remarks were made by Reed Gusciora, Mayor, City of Trenton; Shirley K. Turner, New Jersey State Senator, 15th Legislative District; Anthony S. Verrelli, New Jersey State Assemblyman, 15th Legislative District and Anita Kinney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FABMR, Director, Cancer Health Equity Center of Excellence, Associate Director for Population Science and Community Outreach, Rutgers Cancer Institute and Director, ScreenNJ.
