Rutgers Football to Host Open Practice, Season Kickoff Celebration

The Rutgers University football team reports to camp Thursday afternoon, and will hold a practice open to the public on Sunday, the Rutgers Athletics Department announced Tuesday evening.

Practice takes place Sunday at the F-3 turf field adjacent to High Point Solutions Stadium. Gates open at 2:15 p.m. with parking available in the white lot. Practice begins at 3:15 p.m.

Additionally, Rutgers will hold its kickoff celebration Saturday, Aug. 10, 5:30 p.m. That event includes inflatables and games in Athlete’s Glen near the Scarlet Walk. The band and cheer dance squad are set to perform.

The team will sign autographs inside High Point Solutions Stadium at 7 p.m., and posters will be distributed as fans enter the stadium.

Sodexo will provide refreshments for purchase at both events. Mini and season ticket plans will also be available for purchase at practice this Sunday.

Also this Sunday, season ticket holders have exclusive VIP access to watch practice from the sideline or the end zones. They will receive an email with a certificate redeemable at the red ticket booth, according to the Athletics Department.

All other fans can watch practice from the bleachers.

As the team warms up for practice, DJ Yoshi will be on hand to entertain the fans.

Fans will not be allowed to photograph or videotape the practice, and the use of cameras and cell phones won’t be permitted in the practice complex. Rutgers asks fans not to use social media to post any details of practice.

Ushers will be on hand to monitor fans and enforce this rule. Fans can exit and re-enter the complex if they need to use their phones.
