Rutgers Men's Basketball Team Advances to NIT Season Tip-Off Quarterfinals
The Scarlet Knights defeated Canisius, 66-51, in the first round at home Monday night.

The Rutgers University men’s basketball team made the most of its opportunity to host an NIT Season Tip-Off game Monday night, defeating Canisius, 66-51, to advance to the quarterfinals, according to espn.com.
The fourth-seeded Scarlet Knights will host Drexel, a 71-64 winner over Elon on Tuesday night, 7:30 p.m. That game will air live on ESPN 3, and the winner advances to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden.
Junior guard Jerome Seagers led the way with 15 points and nine assists. Junior forward Kadeem Jack had 13 points and 11 rebounds, and senior forward Wally Judge had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Canisius held a 28-26 halftime lead, but the Scarlet Knights put together an 8-0 run in the second half to take the lead for good at 39-33.

Rutgers improved to 3-1 on the season.
Earlier in the double header at Rutgers, Drexel defeated Elon, 71-64. Drexel held a 10-point halftime lead, and improved 2-1. Chris Fouch led the way for Drexel with 22 points.
Canisius (1-2) will face Elon (2-2) in the consolation game prior to Tuesday night’s quarterfinal matchup.
