Rutgers - You’ve got the Scarlet Knight one, baby.

PepsiCo unveiled its first batch of specially-designed cans featuring the Rutgers University 250th anniversary logo. You’ll start seeing the first batch of the special 4 million cans in stores this week in New Jersey, metro Philadelphia and Delaware, according to Rutgers Today.

The cans celebrate Rutger’s year-long 250th birthday party: The school started 250 years ago in 1766.

The Rutgers-Pepsi collaboration has been in the works for nearly two years. It was the brainchild of Rutgers’ executive director of dining services, Joe Charette, and PepsiCo executives and marketing team members.

(PepsiCo has the exclusive rights as Rutgers’ campus beverage provider.That’s why you see Frito-Lay and Quaker products sold at campus dining facilities.)

“My first correspondence to PepsiCo about the 250th anniversary cans dates from December 2013,” Charette told Rutgers Today, “and we had our first meeting with PepsiCo the following spring.”
