Snoop Dog To Give Free Concert For Rutgers Recent Graduates
On Oct. 23, Snoop Dogg will give a free concert in Piscataway for the classes of 2020/2021, which did not have in-person graduations.

PISCATAWAY, NJ — Later this October, Snoop Dog will perform at a free concert held by Rutgers University to celebrate the classes of 2020 and 2021.
Rutgers said it wanted to celebrate these two classes, now technically Rutgers alumni, because they had to endure virtual learning, could not live on campus and were denied an in-person graduation due to the pandemic.
And what better way to make up for it than with Snoop Dog?

Snoop Dogg will give the free concert Saturday, Oct. 23, at 8:30 p.m. at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, opening with a performance by Warren G.
Members of the classes of 2020 and 2021 are invited to attend for free with one guest each. These two graduating classes will receive priority registration for tickets, which also are available to current students. If there are enough tickets left over, any other Rutgers student who signs up can get one, said the school.

Rutgers said it wanted to celebrate these two classes because they were unable to have in-person graduations in the past two years of the pandemic.
“The classes of 2020 and 2021 are a resilient group who have endured unexpected challenges with remarkable grace. We are thrilled to welcome them back to celebrate all they have achieved," said Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway.
The Oct. 23 concert will coincide with the release of his new album, "Algorithm." It was just announced last week that Snoop Dogg will perform with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in February.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Snoop released his latest single, “I Wanna Go Outside.”
“It’s going to be a party to remember and the energy is going to be off the hook," said Snoop in a statement.
All throughout this fall, Rutgers is also holding several events on campus where students who graduated can return to campus, don their cap and gown and take photos.
“This is the time for our 2020 and 2021 graduates to be recognized for all they have accomplished,” said Kimberlee Pastva, university secretary, who is overseeing the planning of the events. “This is your time to cross the stage, rekindle friendships in person and visit your favorite places on campus.”
