Teen Caused Head-On Crash That Killed Piscataway Man, Police Say

A 19-year-old was arrested and charged with causing the death of a Piscataway man in a car accident.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A 19-year-old was arrested and charged with causing the death of a Piscataway man in a car accident.

The fatal accident happened on Finderne Avenue near Van Veghten Drive in Bridgewater Township at 9:41 p.m. Saturday, June 13. Joel Dominguez-Cruz, of Piscataway, was killed and his passengers injured.

Dylan Baez, 19, of Bridgewater, was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, second-degree assault by auto, and two counts of third-degree assault by auto.

Police say a Honda, driven by Baez, was travelling north when it crossed over the center line into the southbound lane, striking a Kia head on. Dominguez-Cruz was driving the Kia.

Baez was taken to a hospital. Dominguez-Cruz suffered critical injuries and he later died at a hospital. The front passenger and two back seat passengers in the Kia were also injured, but survived.
