Teen Driving Dirt Bike Collides With Car In New Brunswick, Is Killed

The dirt bike and the car collided Tuesday night on Jersey Avenue, and both vehicles burst into flames, said New Brunswick Police.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man was killed when his dirt bike collided with a car Tuesday evening in New Brunswick, said New Brunswick Police.

The driver of the dirt bike was identified as Jayvi Rodriguez, 19, from Somerset.

At approximately 7:29 p.m. Tuesday (March 31), New Brunswick Police responded to a serious motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Jersey Avenue and Jules Lane.

Police say a car on Jersey Avenue struck a dirt bike near the intersection at Jules Lane. The collision resulted in both the vehicle and the dirt bike being engulfed in flames.

Both the car driver and the operator of the dirt bike (Rodriguez) were taken to an area hospital, where Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries.

Jersey Avenue was closed to vehicular traffic in both directions for less than an hour Tuesday night. No charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
