Two Juveniles Shot In New Brunswick Saturday Night

Two juveniles were shot in a low-income housing complex, and it may have stemmed from a large street fight that occurred there earlier.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two teens, ages 15 and 17, were shot in a low-income housing complex in New Brunswick over the weekend, which may have stemmed from a large street fight that occurred in the same place earlier in the day, police announced. The teens sustained injuries that were not life threatening, police said. The shooting happened in the area of 33 Commercial Avenue at approximately 10:00 p.m. Saturday.

As a result of the shooting two juvenile victims were struck with bullets and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Both victims were treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for their injuries, New Brunswick police said.

There is no suspect description at this time. New Brunswick detectives are investigating whether the shooting stemmed from an assault which occurred earlier in the day. In that incident a Rutgers police officer observed a large fight near the same location of 33 Commercial Avenue in which a juvenile was arrested after assaulting several others with a baseball bat.
