Video Shows Yellow Tap Water in New Brunswick

A resident shared this video with Patch. The city says the water discoloration is due to a main break on Voorhees Road.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Notice yellow tap water if you live in New Brunswick? Residents in the Rutgers Village and Edgebrook neighborhoods may be experiencing discoloration with their water due to a main break on Voorhees Road, the city of New Brunswick announced Thursday afternoon on Facebook.

New Brunswick resident Amanda Marie Winckelman shared this video with Patch, of the yellow tap water coming out of her sink Thursday. "The water is discolored often," she said. "Sometimes it is not even on at all. This is without notice. We don't get a phone call or a letter saying don't use it."

The city said on its Facebook page that it is not necessary to boil the water -- despite that extremely yellow color. But residents are advised not to do laundry if their water is discolored, the city said.

"Good enough to drink but not for laundry? I'd rather not drink it," said Winckelman.
