Video Shows Crane That Collapsed Onto Homes Near Rutgers
One of the homes was reportedly rented by Rutgers University students, according to media reports.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A construction crane toppled over and crashed into residential buildings near Rutgers University on Sunday night, according to multiple media outlets.
Damage to multiple buildings on the 100 block of Hamilton Street was reported around 5 or 6 p.m. after the crane fell, according to nj.com.
Severe winds from a passing thunderstorm on Sunday night caused the construction crane to fall on the homes, a New Brunswick fire inspector told NBC4.

One of the homes was being rented by Rutgers students, according to NBC4.
One woman was inside but not injured and two other units of a townhouse behind the home was also damaged, according to NBC4.

The crane, located at the corner of Hamilton and Easton Avenue, was being used to construct a nine-story, 181-unit apartment building, according to nj.com.
