Woman Robbed After Being Asked For Help: New Brunswick Police

A man told the victim a woman needed help in an alley. When she went to help, someone hit her and stole her phone, police said.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Police say a woman reported being hit and robbed Tuesday morning in New Brunswick after a man told her another woman needed help.

New Brunswick Police said the victim was walking near the alleyway between Civic Square and the State Theatre, when an unknown man approached her. The man told her a woman needed help in the alley, police said.

When the woman walked into the alley, another man hit her with his fist and ran off, police said. The woman realized her cell phone was missing after the encounter.

The victim sought medical attention for a non-life threatening injury, police said. Descriptions of the suspects are limited.
