Woodbridge Mayor Decries Hometown Assembly Candidate
Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac calls Tom Maras, Assembly Candidate (R) for 19th. Legislative District a Cheap Political Hack.

In the Land of MacBelieve, Mayor John McCormac tells his Town Council: I’m Not a Crook!
At the September 1st town council meeting, the Mayor of Woodbridge Township, John McCormac, made an appearance, albeit just long enough to rebuke this writer for daring to have questioned his partnership with a businessman, Mr. Peter Mercatili, who is partnering with other developers, under various LLC’s, to develop apartments and/or housing in Woodbridge Township, primarily in the Avenel and Iselin sections of the township.
For the most part, the aforementioned LLC’s are using the same address as A-Affordable Plumbing, 115 E. 11St., Roselle, NJ, and/or 94 Green St., Woodbridge, NJ. The 94 Green Street address is the one where McCormac has (had) an interest in the property, and was a 33.33% (minority ?) owner with Mr. Mercatili in 94 Green Street LLC.
When I first questioned McCormac’s relationship with Mr. Mercatili at the August 18th town council meeting (go to:http://www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us/Departments/TV3536/VideoOnDemand/tabid/2...) Mr. Robert Landolfi, the man McCormac picked, and has richly rewarded in salary and benefits, to be the township’s non-resident Business Administrator, vehemently defended his boss. Mr. Landolfi, either out of sheer ignorance, or unquestioning fidelity to his employer, repeatedly told the Council , members of the public and the TV 35 audience, that John McCormac does not now, or at anytime in the past, have a partnership with any developer(s) in the township. Too bad for Mr. Landofi that when McCormac addressed the town council on the evening of September 1st, he admitted to having been in a partnership with Mercatili for almost two decades. One can only hope Landolfi achieved a degree of enlightenment from McCormac’s admission of that partnership. Perhaps, Landolfi can find the courage of his own convictions and apologize for his ignorance of, or dare I suggest, gross misrepresentation of the facts regarding that partnership.
Then too, readers of this post, and those that watch the video of the town council meeting, should pay close attention to McCormac’s statement that I failed to look at his 2014 financial disclosure, which is posted at: http://fds.state.nj.us/njdca_prod/FDSSearch.aspx Once at that site, one can call up McCormac’s 2014 and 2015 financial disclosures. As one can then see, McCormac, despite his vehement assertion that he ended his partnership with Mercatili almost two years ago, still held a 1/3 interest in 94 Green Street LLC in 2014!
The mayor can say that I am the ‘Boy that Cried Wolf’ , but my ‘howlings’ have been, and always will be, honest and supported by factual records. Undoubtedly, John McCormac will (like Richard M. Nixon) continue to assure the good folks in Woodbridge Township that he is not a crook. But then, I never said he was!
OH, lest I forget, McCormac was still in partnership with Mercatili while Mercatili was still one of the owners of Big Shots. The bar that was able to get what the press said would be a 270 suspension of its liquor license for its involvement in the tragic death of a Perth Amboy police officer, other injuries and the ruination of a young man’s life, reduced to 45 days, spread over different times and dates between August 2009 and September 2011. Perhaps having a partner who was the NJ State Controller under former Governor Jim McGreevey, but was replaced as such under former Governor Jon Corzine, had some additional benefits?
