Students may submit up to four color designs. Each entry must be hand-drawn or digital, in landscape format at 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Submissions must include a short 100-word statement and the student's name, grade and school.

The community mural is 76 feet wide and 8.6 feet tall. Entries are due Oct. 2, and the design will be selected Oct. 30. Painting is planned for March through April, followed by a ribbon cutting Saturday, April 24.

"Every submission becomes part of our community's story," the contest graphic says. Selected students will receive certificates, public recognition and their names on the mural plaque.

Entries and questions can be emailed to trees@newmilfordboro.gov.
