1,700 Berkeley Heights Residents Without Power

Widespread outages are being reported across the state. PSE&G reports 5,400 customers and JCP&L 19,981​ customers are without power.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — JCP&L is reporting 1,713 Berkeley Heights residents are without power Friday morning.

However, Berkeley Heights is not alone. Widespread outages are being reported across the state.

In Union County, PSE&G are reporting outages to 71 Elizabeth customers and fewer than five customers in Westfield, Mountainside, Union and Scotch Plains. JCP&L is also reporting fewer than five customers are without power in Summit and Springfield.

The outages for the PSE&G and Jersey Central Power & Light customers are due to an issue at a JCP&L substation, NJ.com reported.

Nearby counties including Somerset, Morris, Essex, Hunterdon, Ocean, Sussex, Hudson, Bergen and Mercer are also experiencing power outages.

PSE&G reports a total of 5,400 customers and JCP&L reported 19,981 customers are without power as of 7:40 a.m.
