62 Lives Saved in Union County Using Narcan in 2015

Narcan is used to combat heroin and other opiate drug overdoses in emergency situations

Taking a look at the numbers for 2015, a total of 62 lives were saved in Union County when police administered Narcan (Naloxone) to combat heroin and other opiate drug overdoses in emergency situations.

All departments in Union County have been trained on how to administer Narcan.

While 62 successful saves occurred countywide in 2015, there were 37 fatal overdoses recorded, said Mark Spivey, press officer for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
