Accident near Rt. 22 at Mountain Ave. in Mountainside
Trapped driver taken to hospital by Medivac

A one car accident at the intersection of Mountain Ave and Sheffield St. near Rt. 22 west in Mountainside left one person seriously injured earlier this morning.
According to Mountainside police, the driver of the vehicle, who was not identified, was badly entrapped and was later transported by Northstar Medivac helicopter to UMDNJ in Newark.
The accident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. The driver was initially diagnosed with a fracture of the femur.

Rt. 22 west was briefly closed but was quickly re-opened to traffic. As of 10:30 a.m., the scene of the accident was cleared and both Mountain Ave. and Sheffield St. are once again open to vehicles.
