New Providence Approves $226K To Rebuild Municipal Annex Gutted By Asbestos Remediation

Electrical, plumbing, flooring and ceilings were torn out during remediation; seven contracts approved to cover the reconstruction.

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence Borough Council approved more than $226,779 in contracts at its May 12 meeting to restore the Municipal Annex following asbestos remediation that required the removal of electrical systems, plumbing, flooring, ceilings and other infrastructure.

"When we had to do the remediation of the asbestos, we had to take down, rip out some electrical, take out some plumbing, ripped out the floors, some of the ceilings, etc.," Councilman Matthew Cumiskey said. "So these are the resolutions putting that back together."
