NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence Volunteer Fire Department responded to six calls for service Friday while also participating in the New Providence Municipal Alliance's Every 15 Minutes Program at New Providence High School.
The program, held in collaboration with New Providence EMS and the New Providence Police Department and Office of Emergency Management, "highlights the dangers of impaired driving and simulates the reality of what can play out in a devastating situation," the department said.
Members also kept up their weekly training after the program, reviewing and practicing auto extrication techniques.
"It's a busy unofficial start to summer for the department," officials said, noting the increased demand requires volunteers to answer the call. Interested residents can reach out at npfdrecruiting@gmail.com.
