NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Beginning the week of July 6, residents may notice field crews from Colliers Engineering & Design working throughout New Providence as part of the Borough's Stormwater Infrastructure Mapping Project.

The project will create a comprehensive map of the Borough's stormwater system, including catch basins, manholes, storm sewer pipes, outfalls, and detention basins.

Officials say the information will support infrastructure maintenance, help identify drainage issues, guide future improvements, strengthen grant applications, and improve flood resilience.

Residents can expect to see CED personnel wearing high-visibility safety vests and company-branded apparel, operating clearly marked vehicles with flashing amber lights.

Crews may also be seen using GPS survey equipment, measuring tools, and flashlights while inspecting stormwater infrastructure.

Some inspections may require access to stormwater facilities on private property. If access to an unfenced backyard is needed, crews will knock before entering.

If no one is home, they will return at a later time accompanied by Borough Department of Public Works staff.
