Large Power Outage Hit New Providence, Poles Down

Officials said the outage affected the west side of New Providence after multiple telephone poles came down nearby.

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — A large power outage affected the west side of New Providence after multiple telephone poles came down in neighboring Berkeley Heights, officials said.

New Providence Police and the New Providence Office of Emergency Management reported that multiple poles were down along Diamond Hill Road.

Officials said at the time that there was no estimate for when power would be restored.

Residents were also asked to avoid the Diamond Hill Road area while repairs were underway.

The borough advises residents to report outages directly to JCP&L and warns people to stay away from downed power lines.
