Berkeley Heights, New Providence Among NJ's Top 50 Districts

BERKELEY HEIGHTS/NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Data compiler Niche has ranked New Jersey's best school districts for 2019, and Berkeley Heights and New Providence have come in among the top 50 in the state. The rankings were released this week as part of the website's 2019 K-12 rankings.

Berkeley Heights came in 20th and New Providence came in 42nd. Several other Union County districts came in among the state's very best. Summit came in 4th making it the top-ranked district in Union County.

Westfield also cracked the top 25, and Cranford and Scotch Plains-Fanwood also were in the top 50.

Other Union County districts to make the top 100 include Springfield and Roselle Park.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Each district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.
